Scope and Content The Alamo Navajo Oral History Project collection consists of 23 interviews on 26 CDs with related photographs. American Indian Oral History Collection

Abstract The American Indian Oral History collection contains recorded interviews with and about Native Americans. There were 904 recordings collected by the University of New Mexico between 1967-1972. The bulk of the interviews contain oral traditions and recollections from Navajos and Pueblos. Transcripts are available for most of the recordings.

Charlotte Johnson Frisbie Collection of Navajo Music and Oral Histories

Abstract This is a copy of the field recordings made by Charlotte S. Johnson on the Navajo Reservation in 1963-1965. There are large segments of Navajo dialogue with English translations. The collection contains a wide range of songs and oral histories that provide an in depth view of Navajo religion, society and history.

Donald L. Roberts Collection of Music of the Southwest and Mexico

Abstract The collection contains recordings of Navajo, Hopi and Pueblo songs, as well as a few Apache, Ute, and Kiowa songs. A major part deals with the history and use of sand paintings, native medicine and star beliefs. There are also Matachines dances, a Los Pastores program and a concert of songs performed by the University of Chihuahua Folkloric group. The collection includes detailed explanations of the selections.

Scope and Content This collection contains 36 sound tapes of ceremonial dances recorded in the field during the 44th Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremonial, held in Gallup, N.M., August 12-15, 1965. The tapes contain music from Native American peoples from Mexico and across the United States, including the Southwest, Plains, Pacific Coast and Southeast. John Donald Robb Field Recordings

Abstract The John Donald Robb Field Recordings consist of Hispanic, Native American, and Anglo music recorded between 1942-1979 in different parts of New Mexico, the Southwest, Mexico, and Latin America. The collection contains Hispanic folk music such as the alabado, the pastore, the decima, and the corrido. Additionally, Native American chants and dances, as well as Anglo cowboy and frontier ballads are represented in the collection.

University of New Mexico Navajo Reading Study Records

Abstract The Navajo Reading Study was conducted by the University of New Mexico and supported by grants from the Ford Foundation and contracts with the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the U.S. Office of Education.
